Kogarah community is looking for a cook

Part-time Cook

The Redemptorists are a religious congregation of priests and brothers within the Catholic Church who live in community for the sake of preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, especially among people on the margins of society and church.

The Redemptorist Community at Kogarah is seeking an enthusiastic and suitably experienced person to work as a Cook for residents and visitors to the Community.

The role primarily involves preparing meals for Community residents and visitors, including morning and afternoon tea, a principal meal at midday and a less substantial meal in the evening. There will also be a requirement to prepare special meals on Feast Days, Holy Days and other significant events for residents and a larger number of guests.

This is a part-time role working 8 am to 2 pm, Monday to Friday. Award Rates apply. There will be some additional hours required during weekdays and on weekends, paid accordingly.

Applicants must be able to:

  • Consult with dieticians, Resident Nurse and Community Manager to develop and cook to a planned menu that caters to the taste and nutritional needs of Community residents and guests;
  • Manage the Cooking needs of the Community as budgeted;
  • Demonstrate flexibility in relation to meal preparation and hours of work – which will include occasionally working additional hours during the week and on weekends;
  • Maintain exceptional standards of food preparation, presentation, hygiene and cleanliness;
  • Demonstrate exceptional time management; interpersonal and communication skills; and
  • Provide proof of (and maintain) a current NSW Driver’s Licence.
