Mission Conference

This July Redemptorists and mission partners journeyed to Galong, to gather on the land of the Ngunnawal people. Their purpose; to remember, reaffirm and begin reimagining apostolic life in light of God’s mission through theological reflection, dialogue, discernment and prayer.

This conference provided opportunities for prayer, individual and group reflection, input and rest and relaxation. Diverse aspects of mission covered including perspectives from our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, our confreres, our mission partners and our youth leaders.

Each day those in attendance not only paid respect to our Aboriginal brothers and sisters whose country on which they gathered, but took time to learn from their traditions and stories.

This July Redemptorists and mission partners journeyed to Galong, to gather on the land of the Ngunnawal people. Their purpose; to remember, reaffirm and begin reimagining apostolic life in light of God’s mission through theological reflection, dialogue, discernment and prayer.

The conference was facilitated by Jo Kenny and Luke Tobin of Catholic Mission and included presentations from:

  • Fr Noel Connolly ssc
  • Patrick Fox Immersion Education Manager Catholic Mission
  • Peter Gates Deputy National Director Catholic Mission

Redemptorists of Oceania are committed to exploring what their spirituality and mission means in our contemporary context. This will no doubt further our genuine collaboration with lay women and men, as well as dialogue within the institutional Church and those of varying faiths, and none.

While not all questions were able to be answered at this mission conference, the deep listening and discernment will be foundational in our continuing journey to bring healing to our wounded world.
