Advent 2009

November 30 – Monday, Feast of St. Andrew, apostle and martyr

Today's thought

When Caitlin rushed into the office on Monday morning she called over to Leah at the desk opposite.  ‘I saw the trailer for “Julie and Julia” on Saturday. I just know I want to see it.  Would you like to come straight after work this evening?’  Leah bubbled back a delighted “yes” and that evening, on the dot of 5.00 pm they hurried out of the office down the street to the multiplex.

Today is the feast of St. Andrew, the first disciple chosen by the Lord. He ran off to get his brother, Peter, and he took him to Jesus.

The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother and say to him, ‘We have found the Messiah’ – which means the Christ – and he took Simon to Jesus.
- John 1:41

Each human person, loving God, is known, understood and loved by you. Show us how to reveal this marvellous truth to one another. In turn may each person be free to respect others and try to understand them.  Amen.

Words and a will may work upon my mind
Till ethics turn
To the transcendent mystic love with which
The Seraphim burn,
