Advent 2009

December 15 – Tuesday of the third week in Advent

Today's thought

Zara was chairperson of the board at Mountain Holdings a major national company. Lance was also on the board. At meetings he would not uncommonly challenge the proposals put up by Zara and the other board members.

Zara was also on the board of The Bluff Group, a medium size international company. Greg was on their board too. At meetings Greg seconded most proposals put up by the chairperson and usually agreed with the views of other board members.

Years later when Zara was lured to chair the board of Elims Ltd, who did she choose to come with her, Lance or Greg?

Jesus said, “What is your opinion? A man had two sons. He went and said to the first, ‘My boy, you go and work in the vineyard today.’ He answered, ‘ I will not go’, but afterwards thought better of it and went. The man then went and said the same thing to the second who answered, ‘Certainly, sir’ but did not go. ‘Which of the two did the father’s will?’  ‘The first’ they said.
- Matthew 21:28-31a

Gracious God, you created men and women, unique and personal, to give you glory in all their endeavours. May the thoughts and feelings that make each one different be part of the concord that makes us whole. We ask you this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
